The "food system" is at the heart of our lives. It encompasses all stages of production, distribution and consumption of food. It also integrates the interactions between population development, nutrition, food, health, agriculture and environment.
According to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP, 2022), the food system alone could generate the failure of several Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (UN) but also the non-fulfillment of the objectives established by the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
