Sodexo - achieving its climate goals by engaging its local teams

In collaboration with Traace, Sodexo, the world leader in Quality of Life services, is enabling each of its countries to autonomously drive their own low-carbon strategy to achieve the group's reduction targets.

Sodexo, world leader in Quality of Life services, has committed to reducing its GHG emissions by 34% in 2025 compared to 2017, on scopes 1, 2 and 3.

In order to accelerate the company's decarbonization process, Sodexo has decided to equip its operational teams with a tool that allows them to analyze their carbon footprint locally and to build a specific action plan to reduce it

Complete company modelling

Traace allows to model an organisation, whatever its complexity, thanks to a tree structure system that can be 100% configured.

For Sodexo, a structure by activity and by country has been chosen (more than 50 countries in total).

Users then connect to the different hierarchical levels according to their scope of responsibility.

Connection to different data sources

To measure Sodexo's emissions, Traace consolidates multiple operational data (energy consumption, food purchases, logistics, waste, etc.) via their ERP system.

The emissions items are then classified by category.

One of the strong points of Traace is that the categories are 100% configurable, which allowed Sodexo to keep the structure of its previous Carbon Footprints.

"In order to fight against climate change, we need to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and reach our target of -34% of our emissions on Scopes 1, 2 and 3 in 2025 compared to 2017, validated by the Science-Based Target Initiative.

Thanks to Traace, we have been able to equip each of the organisation's countries to become autonomous in achieving their climate objectives, and thus multiply the effects of our decarbonisation strategy.

Visualisation of emissions and targets by country

Once the data is integrated into the tool, each Sodexo country is able to see its carbon footprint and identify its main emission sources.

Thanks to our trajectory module, countries can also visualize the efforts they need to make to align themselves with the global reduction target.

Entities are now ready to build an action plan to align their emissions with the group's commitments.

Creation and monitoring of action plans

Via our "Action Plan" module, CSR managers in each country can determine their optimum path to achieve their goals.

To create an action plan, they can choose from a catalogue of existing actions or create their own: The tool allows them to model complex decarbonisation actions and to quantify the carbon impact of these actions.

Once the ambition and timeline of the actions have been defined, the user can launch the action plan.

All Sodexo teams are now committed to reducing their carbon footprint!
